Documentation and authentication: different questions

A seller’s document, a publication record and an independent expert opinion have different scopes. Start by asking what exists for the specific impression, rather than assuming every famous artist has an active authentication service.
The Andy Warhol Foundation states that its authentication board no longer exists. A contemporary certificate that invokes that board therefore needs careful scrutiny.
For other artists, procedures depend on the authority and the type of work. Confirm the current remit, required material and cost directly before commissioning an opinion.
