Alphonse Mucha

Ornament, nature and Art Nouveau.

Born in Moravia, Alphonse Mucha arrived in Paris in 1887 and became a defining figure of Art Nouveau. His poster for Sarah Bernhardt’s Gismonda established a distinctive language of tall formats, flowing lines, pastel colors and decorative halos. He later devoted many years to the monumental Slav Epic. Their work and legacy can be explored at Mucha Foundation Art Museum · Prague.

A lasting visual language

Why live with their art

Mucha turned the poster into an artistic experience. His curves, floral motifs and enveloping compositions still shape our idea of Art Nouveau. A choice for those who find beauty in the dialogue between figure, nature and ornament.
